While Squincy is on an evangelical tour of the bible belt with his Nintendub beats, El Jeffe and I are gonna do it real grande at Speakerboxx this Thursday.

The Don Santos and Dayta will also be on hand for the take-over!

This weekend kicks off with a bit of a Ruff Cutt reunion at Boondocks. Fredster and Jeffe regularly “F” the Scene together but this Friday I’ll guest DJ along with them as “Gracie ChaFez.”

So come prepared to put it down on the flo. No requests. No filler. Just murdah! Now that’s bigger than DIRB!

And this Saturday night is our DIRB! Block Party at Block 21 (2420 Washington) with DJ Pooks in the Howard Hughes room. Pop champagne!

There’s a first time for everything. In fact this is our first DustyCrates post for the year on our first anniversary. And although we’ve been operating as a “DJ collective” for about 3 years, DIRB! has never come together to play under one roof. Thanks to a holiday visit from Matt (a.k.a. Sizzle), who is holding up the DIRB! Seattle chapter, we were able to make it happen on Saturday night at Block 21 (2420 Washington, Houston).

Matt, Antonio, El Jeff and I Did It Real Big [DIRB!] at our bi-monthly, BLOCK PARTY, with Squincy Jones (dood, you’re pretty much DIRB! now) and all our friends plus more. We may not have another opportunity like this, so it couldn’t have been any more special.

Just like Ralphie Parker, Matt made me go back and decode this e-flyer. Truth be told, it had been a while since I saw A Christmas Story and forgot how some folks turn classics into nerd fests.

Anyway, in honor of Matt’s (aka Sizzle and DIRB! founder) holiday homecoming, we’re officially coming together to DJ as DIRB! for the first time. So it’s confirmed: Soular Grooves’ visionary, DJ Sun (check out his Wikipedia entry), will be the opening act for Thievery Corporation. And as anticipated, the post partying Friday night will ensue at Block 21 (2420-B Washington, Houston).

But if you don’t happen to make it out Friday, join us Saturday night at Block 21 for El Jeffe’s birthday celebration. He’s guest DJing (if he can see straight after a few b-day shots) along with his DIRB! counterparts, Gracie Chavez and Antonio.

Stop by anytime 10 p.m.-2 a.m. There’s never a cover, no dress code, and 21+ to drink. But you knew that!

This coming Saturday night is our last installment of RUFF CUTT at Dean’s Credit Clothing, Houston. Closing it out with us will be G.Wizz , our guest DJ.

Although Dean’s has a great sound system, warm vibe, and a stellar staff, getting people to go downtown in this econonmy has proven to be quite challenging. So, we’ve decided to move on after this finale and do RUFF CUTT as one-off events. But no worries–FREDster, El Jeffe and I will get together from time to time under the DIRB! umbrella to CUTT it up again.
