Sunglasses at Neon Nites

Neon Nites kicks off their 2nd monthly installment at Zeppelin (3101 San Jacinto) with the usual suspects–Fixture, G.Wizz, Bristle, Jeff Mac–and featuring El Nino.

If you can stand the hot glow of the bangers played tonight, then you’ve definitely found your destination for the night. Just don’t leave home without your sunglasses! Shit’s gonna be hot! See Sideline Events for more info –>

Appropriately, the Soular Grooves camp will bring some warmth to the patio, thanks to Eric Salzman, Jibril and Seth Jones.

Although this is out of order, I feel it necessary to post the DIRB! Live on KTRU Part 4 mix from G.Wizz & Jep.

Off the Beaten Path

Ghostland Observatory are performing this Saturday night at–oddly enough–Sam Houston Race Park. No strangers to playing off the beaten path, these Austinites are giving their hometown a newer, fresher signature sound. They may play roadhouses and race parks ’round these parts, but they’re on a whole ‘nother level!

Houston’s mainstay DJ Cee-Plus opens. Get your tickets here.

Be sure to swing by the Back Room for the (un)official Ghostland afterparty. G.Wizz and Jep play early sets before their DIRB! appearance later on at Block 21.

Let’s Ride!

On an unusually cold Saturday night for Houston in February recently, Daniel Allen (Backseat Bingo, DNA, ATX) warmed up the Block 21 (2420 Washington) crowd with his mixed bag of heaters. The entire dancefloor was fuego by the time I jumped in to play along with him at midnight. We had such a good time, we had to have him back to join the rest of the DIRB! posse on the decks.

This Saturday, April 18, is the return of Daniel Allen as we team up again for another “Bonnie & Clyde” session at DIRB! Block Party! Plus DJ Pooks and guest rounds out the Howard Hughes Bar in the side room.

You can catch Daniel earlier on Friday night at The Roof in Midtown with G.Wizz and later on Sunday at Dean’s newest location in Montrose with Josiah Burke.

And the Winner is…

So the results are in. Trash Yourself takes the Houston’s Most Hated SXSW 2009 Remix contest. HMH got a pretty good national response, so I’m happy to add that Fixture & G.Wizz’s Neon Nites remix of “Static” made the top 5!

Here are Glasnost’s top five picks:

1. Come Alone (Trash Yourself remix)
2. Come Alone (Culture Prophet remix)
3. Come Alone (Moonlight remix)
4. Static (Fixture & G.Wizz Neon Nites remix)
5. Come Alone (The They Radical Alterity mix)

Listen to all the winners’ remixes at HoustonsMostHated.com.

So there you have it guys. All you Haters can catch the #1 producer at HMH’s SXSW Showcase this year in Austin, Texas. Plus, you should see some of the top five perform at upcoming parties.

Congrats to all the winners!
